Disclaimer: Apple no longer supports the iPhone 6 series. Apple announced in June 2019 that it would stop supporting the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus with the release of iOS 13.Apple considers the iPhone 6 Plus to be "obsolete" technology. This means that Apple will no longer repair or service the device. Apple typically supports iPhones with major iOS updates for around five to six years. The iPhone 6 ran iOS 8–12, and the iPhone 6S ran iOS 9–15. The iPhone 6 can still perform basic tasks like making calls, sending texts, and browsing the internet.
Apple no longer supports the iPhone 7 series with iOS updates, but it may still receive security updates.Apple announced in June 2022 that the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus would not receive iOS 16. iOS 15 is the last version of iOS that supports the iPhone 7. The iPhone 7 may still receive security updates, but it will not receive new features, optimizations, or app compatibility improvements. The iPhone 7 series is no longer available for sale.
Apple stopped supporting the iPhone 8 series in September 2024. The iPhone 8 and 8 Plus are no longer compatible with iOS 17 or later.The iPhone 8 and 8 Plus were released in September 2017. They were discontinued in February 2020. The iPhone 8 and 8 Plus were originally shipped with iOS 11 and supported up to iOS 16. iOS 17 and later are only compatible with iPhones from the iPhone XS onwards. Older iPhones may be less safe to use because they are no longer receiving updates.
